DEVELOPMENT WORKERS & INTERNS

We are focusing on improving people’s social status and offering them skills that will facilitate the process of eradicating hunger and extreme poverty. We look to ensure that all people, especially those with the fewest resources (women and youth), have access to education and training if they are to succeed at the household and community level, and we offer opportunities for them to start small scale projects for income generation and food security.

We have a number of volunteering roles available ranging from 2 weeks to 2 years.

OUR VACANCIES:

We require skilled DEVELOPMENT WORKERS with knowledge and/or experience in the following fields:

  • Beekeeping
  • Finance
  • Administration
  • Information Systems and Technology
  • Education (eg. we are in need of teachers/tutors for our College)
  • Business development and management
  • Project management
  • Environment conservation and preservation
  • Marketing, fundraising and proposal writing

Requirements of Development Worker Placements:

  • Positions range from 2 months to 2 years
  • All our programs can be tailored to the individual volunteer so we can make the most of your skill set and be as flexible as possible.
  • Each Development Workers is asked to cover all costs related to their travel and living expenses, and will be met at Entebbe airport by a LIDEFO representative and transported to Kasese
  • Accommodation costs are GBP 150 per month inclusive of all utilities and we request that you contribute GBP 50 for the running of the office, which will provide you with internet access and other tools required
  • The volunteering aspect is FREE as your skills are invaluable to our organisation
We will happily provide training and advice on how best you can raise these funds to enable your stay in Uganda with LIDEFO, and we can put you in touch with previous Development Workers from LIDEFO.

We also seek INTERNS to join our team for and the following criteria would apply:

  • Must be 18 years and above
  • Must be willing to adapt to new challenges
  • The ideal candidate should have an interest in development work
Requirements of Intern Placements:
  • Internship range from 2 weeks to 3 months
  • All our programs can be tailored to the individual volunteer so we can make the most of your skill set and be as flexible as possible.
  • Each Intern is asked to cover all costs relating to their travel and living expenses. You will be met at Entebbe airport by a LIDEFO representative and transported to Kasese
  • Accommodation costs are GBP 150 per month inclusive of all utilities and we request that you contribute GBP 50 for the running of the office, which will provide you with internet access and other tools required
  • The volunteering aspect is FREE as your work will be invaluable to our organisation
All interns will be provided with a local mentor who will be fluent in English and will be responsible for their wellbeing, will educate them about the local culture and traditions and will organise social events and activities. The activities the intern may take part in are visits to national parks to view local animals such as elephants and lions; white water rafting; trips to Kampala, Uganda’s buzzing capital; and visits to traditional villages.

Interns will work on one of the following 3 projects: The Women and Youth Development Group, The Liberty College, or The Beekeeping Project.
